Maintenance Mode

Would love a simple switch for a maintenance mode. Just turn off a property completely and show a user friendly landing (contrary to suspending).

Would love to see this added.
Right now my website shows "This service has been suspended by its owner." to 100+ real-time users

Please add this feature, or add the ability to redirect incoming requests to another render url via the dashboard. It seems a lot of other hosting solutions have this. Without it, we have to update CNAME records or the like. Thanks!

This would be extremely useful. Please consider it for the roadmap.

I fully second this feature request. Some actions such as database version upgrades, database plan downgrades etc can't be done without some downtime. A branded maintenance mode is a must for this. (Using e.g. the turnout Ruby gem might not work as planned when using multiple instances/autoscaling.) It's a great idea to serve a custom URL off a static site with status 503, an extra bonus would be the ability to set IP addresses which are allowed to bypass the maintenance mode.

Maintenance/down page

It would be nice to be able to have a better down page than what is currently served. This could be done via a static site. Ideally there would be two:
1) maintenance - for when the service is suspended, like for DB ugprade or some other migration
2) down - when the service fails and is unable to re-start

Would also love to do this!

That would be very useful. Heroku offers it and even allows you to customize the template of the page.
