JVM support for languages like Kotlin would be valuable

Agreed, I personally want it for the static deploy process. You should probably configure your project to specify the version and vendor.
Adding jvm support (including JAVA_HOME) would also allow for gradle kotlin projects to build (that's what my site is using)
